Bllack Hole started the racing season in July as he recovered from surgery, but that didn’t slow him down on his way to winning six of seven starts to become the 2019 Ohio 3-year-old pacing colt of the year.

Bllack Hole, the son of Mr Apples-Feel The Thunder by Modern Art earned $226,948 for his owner, Clarence Foulk’s L & L Stables. Also trained by Foulk of Springfield, Ohio, Bllack Hole won the Ohio Sires Stakes final at Northfield Park in a lifetime best of 1:49.4.

“We knew he was good, but we didn’t think he was as good as he ended up being,” said Chad Foulk, son of the owner-trainer.

The unusual spelling of the gelding’s name, with two “L’s” instead of one, is in reference to Chad’s two children and Clarence’s grandchildren, Luke and Lilly.

Bllack Hole will be honored at the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association and United States Trotting Association’s District 1 annual awards banquet Jan. 18 at the University Area Marriott in Columbus, Ohio. Tickets to the banquet are $30 each and can be purchased by calling the OHHA office at (614) 221-3650. Reservation forms are also available on the OHHA website at www.ohha.com. (OHHA)
