Brandon’s Cowboy set himself up for a sweep of the Robert J. Suslow Series at the Meadowlands with a 1:51.2 victory in the second leg Saturday night. His chief rival figures to be Whodunit, who also won a Suslow split Saturday in 1:52.3.

Last week Brandon’s Cowboy moved to the front of the field early in his victory, but this week he faced faster fractions --:27.1, :55.1 and 1:24--and driver Danel Dube waited until the stretch before uncorking the 3-year-old son of The Panderosa with a :26.4 final panel. That carried him to a come-from-behind victory over Georgia Pacific (Ron Pierce) by one-half length. Driven To Win (David Miller) was third.

The mile is a lifetime mark for Brandon’s Cowboy, who is trained by Mark Ford for owner Martin Scharf.

In the second $22,500 division of the Suslow, Whodunit and Catello Manzi went wire to wire, scoring by one-half length over Crazy for Ever (David Miller), with Circle L Kid (Jim Morrill Jr.) third.

Whodunit cut fractions of :28, :56.4 and 1:25.3 before pacing home in :27 for his third triumph of the season in seven starts for trainer Jake Huff and owners Father And Son Stable, M.C. Gingold and P.G. Marrone. The mile was also a career best for Whodunit.
