The powerful Brian Brown Stable 3-year-old pacing trio of the colts Fear The Dragon and Downbytheseaside and the filly Blazin Britches trained a fast mile on Wednesday morning at The Red Mile in preparation for starts in the Tattersalls and Glen Garnsey Memorial, respectively, on Sunday in Lexington.
David Miller and Brian Sears, the regular drivers of Fear The Dragon and Downbytheseaside, respectively, were at the track to handle the last trip blowout while Brown's son, Beau, handled Blazin Britches.
As the trio headed for the start, Blazin Britches led the colts Fear The Dragon and Downbytheseaside. Then Beau Brown took control of the training mile with the filly while Fear The Dragon and Downbytheseaside followed. Brown got down to the half in 1:00 and estimated he was at the three-quarter mark in 1:28, with his stopwatch showing a mile time of 1:54 as Blazin Britches held off the last brush by the two colts. That gave Blazin Britches a last quarter of :26, with the colts perhaps a tick faster.
Brian Brown said he was pleased with their efforts.
"They all finished the mile good," he noted. "Every one of my horses has been getting better being on this track."--harnessracing.com/Amanda Stephens Photo
