Colonial Downs enjoyed double-digit increases in handle and attendance during the 2004 harness racing meet, which concluded this past Monday night.



The total handle for the meet was $5,815,294, a 40 percent increase over 2003's $4,148,072. The average daily total handle was up 23 percent over last year, $181,728 compared to $148,145. The $181,728 average total handle is the highest in Colonial Downs history.



On-track handle experienced similar growth. The total on-track handle of $1,913,403 represented a 16 percent increase over 2003. The average daily on-track handle rose two percent to $59,794.



The 2004 meet drew a total attendance of 20,653, which was a 27 percent increase over 2003's total of 16,246. The average daily attendance rose 11 percent, to 645.
