Yonkers Raceway has named Robert (Cammie) Haughton to the newly-created position of director of racing.
Haughton, 57, was serving as the Raceway's racing consultant. He is a former presiding judge at both the Meadowlands and Yonkers. The son of Hall of Famer Billy Haughton also worked as assistant race secretary at Saratoga Raceway after himself training and driving.
"Cammie's job is to improve our handle," Raceway COO Bob Galterio said. "We value his experience, and I would expect him to work in tandem with race secretary Steve Starr, presiding judge Nick Ferriero and the horsemen to do just that."
"I'm looking forward to starting my new position," Haughton said. "I definitely believe Yonkers' product is as good as any in the sport, and all of us are committed to getting the racing fans to take notice." (Yonkers)
