Woodbine chief executive officer Jim Lawson has told harness racing journalist Harold Howe that the track is working with government officials to come up with a plan so American-based horsemen can travel into Canada to race their horses in Woodbine Mohawk's major stakes.

“It is not easy to get into Canada and, quite frankly, I’m not clear on how some people are getting in while others are not,” says Lawson.

“What we are hoping to convince the federal authorities to do is accept a set of protocols we have developed to create a bubble allowing these people in for these events. We have been ultra cautious since we were allowed to reopen and demonstrated that we take health and safety very seriously.”
