With the start of the Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund sophomore events beginning Monday, March 24, some of the promising three-year-olds are tuning up. I Like My Boss, winner of the $100,000 Two-Year-Old Colt Trot Final last Fall showed he was ready.
Jonathan Roberts piloted the Don Boss Vita-Wild On gelding to an easy come-from-behind 1:57.4 victory in his first start of his sophomore season in a $10,000 DSBF-Eligible trot. Bob Shahan trains, co-bred and owns the winner with Jimmy and A.M. Parsons. His perfect racing record is now four wins and $75,000 earnings.
With Tom Deere (Tony Morgan) cutting out the fractions, Briefs Or Boxers (Carlo Poliseno) made a big move to temporarily take the lead after the three quarters, I Like My Boss was moving up and went three-wide entering the lane and quickly took over reaching the finish line in a career best 1:57.4.
Christina Talley's impressive three-year-old filly Evil Fight, in only her second pari-mutuel start, scored her second straight win turning back eight rivals for a 1:55.4 success in a $6,500 3&4-Year-Old Filly and Mare pace. Trained by Curtis Daniels, the Western Ideal-Maytime Hall filly was driven by Ross Wolfenden. Surreal Hanover (Roger Plante) was runner-up with Megginspin (Kirby) placed third.
Tony Morgan made the winner's circle three-times. Ross Wolfenden and Trace Tetrick had doubles.
Enrico AS looks for his second straight win meeting I'm So Striking and newcomer Guiltywithanexcuse in the Wednesday $15,500 feature trot. (Dover)
