Caviar Forthe Lady gained the lead with a powerful quarter-pole move that carried her to a comfortable victory in Wednesday’s $22,500 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows.
Caviar Forthe Lady had been hampered in recent editions of the track’s top distaff trot by leaving herself too much work to do late. On Wednesday, she and Mike Wilder took matters into their own hands, brushing to the front early and scoring in 1:55.4. Careless Love was 2-3/4 lengths back in second, with AJ’s Baby third.
Marty Wollam trains the 4-year-old daughter of SJ’s Caviar-Croupier Lady who vaulted over $400,000 in career earnings, for Acadia Farms.
Tony Hall drove three winners on the 14-race card. (The Meadows)
