Stampede Park leading reinsman John Chappell recorded his 1,500th career driving victory by recording another hat-trick on Saturday (Sept. 27) at the Calgary, AB oval. He won with Racy Ratt, Armbro Vocal and Blue Star Breeze.

The 41-year-old Prince Edward Island native will fondly remember victory number 1,501, too. It came the next day with Dudes Leaving Town in the $95,241 President's Pace for Alberta-sired two-year-old colt pacers. From trailing post position no. 9, Chappell settled this son of As Promised—Althea Hanover briefly in fifth before rolling to the lead at the quarter pole en route to an open-lengths, four-and-a-quarter length tally in 1:56.3.

Dudes Leaving Town, a then-record $40,000 Alberta yearling sale price last year, now boasts a perfect 5 5-0-0-$85,616 lifetime logging, all in rein to Chappell.
