With his fourth win in four starts coming in the $100,000 New Jersey Sire Stake final for freshman trotting colts, Chapter Seven won’t have to worry about filing chapter 11 anytime soon.
The Windsong’s Legacy colt, trained by Linda Toscano and owned by Richard Gutnick and Gary Cocco, was driven by Jeff Gregory. Leaving from post three, Gregory tucked briefly to the quarter in :28.1, then pulled and began a determined brush to the front with the heavy favorite, clearing by the half in :58.1. He increased his lead on his way to the three quarters in 1:28, trailed by Winuendo and Muscleaneous, who would follow him across the wire.
The outcome was never in doubt after that as Chapter Seven drew off to win by open lengths in a career-best 1:57.2. A $42,000 yearling purchase at Harrisburg, Chapter Seven has now earned $87,000 in his career. (harnessracing.com)
