The French winter-meeting at Hippodrome was traditionally concluded with the Prix de l'Union Europeenne and Prix de Selection, before the meeting continues at Cagnes-Sur-Mer, on the southern French border, outside Nice.

The "Europe Prize" resulted in a win for Quinoa du Gers (Ganymede-Targa du Chalange), who has closed in on the highest class this season and now showed to ready to beat some of the best. After an early lead, Quinoa du Gers defended the lead for Matthieu Abrivard and won in a rate of 2:02.3 over 3.000 meter (= 1 7/8 mile). The 9-year-old horse, Quinoa du Gers is owned by Ecurie Le Tremont (Souloy) and the trainer is Fabrice Souloy. The world champion, Commander Crowe (Juliano Star), who made his seasons debut, followed leading stablemate Quinoa du Gers, but heading into the stretch Commander Crowe tired and finished sixth. Commander Crowe was later disqualified and placed last for being rough gaited. The favorite, Reve du Beleyv who finished third, was also disqualified for being rough gaited.
