Commentary, breeding news in Preview

The disqualification in the Kentucky Derby has generated loads of commentary and in a First Over column in HarnessRacing Weekend Preview, Gordon Waterstone flashes back to the 2017 Hambletonian disqualification. The Derby DQ was controversial in many ways and Dean Towers, a former columnist for The Horseman And Fair World magazine, joins the Weekend Preview team to offer his thoughts.
While the Derby DQ was still on the burner simmering, controversy erupted at Miami Valley Racing & Gaming in Ohio on Monday when Bettor Joy N was a late scratch from the Chip Noble Memorial. Waterstone made a few phone calls to learn about what happened and reports what he learned in Weekend Preview.
Kathy Parker’s Breeding Banter is back with really, really big news--yes, bigger than the birth of the royal Archie. Her namesake has delivered a filly by Muscle Hill at Kentuckiana Farms (and yes, there is a photo). Since breeding season is still in full swing, Kathy (the person) has more breeding news as well.
If you’re looking for the weekend’s stakes action, tune into Harrah’s Philadelphia on Friday afternoon to catch 3-year-old filly trotters in action. Jim Campbell has a few insights about his filly Millies Possesion, who will be making her stakes debut.
