Sparkler, a colt by Jate Lobell, won his $40,000(C) elimination for the Confederation Cup and then came back and captured the $567,000 final Sunday night at Flamboro Downs. Sparkler, with Paul MacDonell driving for trainer Mark Harder, turned in a 1:53.1 mile to defeat Armbro Balmoral.

Three eliminations were required to advance to the Cup final. Sparkler won the first in 1:52.2, Brandon's Cowboy took the second in 1:53, and Magical GG captured the third in 1:53.4. North America Cup champ Mantacular finished third in the elim won by Brandon's Cowboy while Quik Pulse Mindale, a supplemental entry, failed to advance from that split to the final.

Brandon's Cowboy broke stride at the start in the final, taking himself out of the race. Yankee Lariat took third in the final with Mantacular earning fourth money.
