Congo Queen, who finished seventh in last year’s Breeders Crown final for 2-year-old filly trotters behind Forever Starlet after finishing third in her elim, made her 2004 debut Wednesday night (April 14) at Cal-Expo. The daughter of Muscles Yankee won her first career race in the maiden event, holding game to win in 2:04.

Richard Wojcio drove Congo Queen to the victory for owners Harvey and Elinore Stein’s Stein Racing Stable of Galt, Calif. She was winless in six starts last year at two, picking up small checks in the Breeders Crown elim and in New Jersey Sire Stakes contests. Dale Thornton is down as trainer for the sophomore filly at Cal-Expo.
