Corey Braden, the leading driver at Colonial Downs’ current fall harness meet, won five consecutive races on a drizzly Sunday afternoon at the New Kent track.
The streak began in the fifth race with Hurrikane Shannonk ($31.20) and ended with Odds On Diamant ($5.80) in the finale. Inbetween, Braden scored with All American Solo ($11.00), Frank Lloyd ($5.80) and Life Uptown ($5.40). Heading into Sunday’s action, Braden led Chris Page by two wins, 12 to 10, but Page did not reach the winner’s circle Sunday. Braden will carry a seven-win margin when racing resumes Tuesday afternoon.
Dienecologist, a 14 year old Die Laughing gelding, reached the winner's circle for the first time in two years with a win in one of a trio of three-quarter mile races Colonial carded Sunday. Frank Milby drove Dienecologist, who was sent off at 20-1. The veteran pacer stayed patiently in second the first two fractions, drove by Bunafide Artist in midstretch and beat fast-closing Catnapper by 1 ½ lengths at the wire in 1:24.3. (Colonial Downs)
