Daley's charges dropped

June 16, 2005

Trainer Noel Daley has reportedly been granted a conditional discharge in relation to being charged with possession of hypodermic needles and syringes and had charges of possession of prescription drugs without a prescription dismissed without prejudice on Wednesday in Chesterfield Township Municipal Court in New Jersey.

The conditional discharge procedure allows defendants charged with certain drug offenses to be under court supervision for a period of time determined by a judge. No plea or admission of guilt is entered. Judge Bonnie L. Goldman said Daley's monitoring period would be one year and he was ordered to pay fines and fees totaling $833.

If no additional offenses are committed during the monitoring period, the charges against Daley will be dismissed, although, a record of the original discharge remains.

"We were going to go to trial, but this program was available," said Tim Donohue, Daley's attorney. "It's just a lot more cost effective and we can go on with life."

Donohue said items seized by State Police on March 2 at Daley's barn were obtained through a veterinarian and administered by a vet. (HRC release)
