The undefeated 3-year-old colt trotter Deweycheatumnhowe drew post three in the first of two eliminations for the Stanley Dancer Memorial Friday night at the Meadowlands, while the sophomore filly trotter Snow White, hoping to redeem herself after making a break in her 2008 debut last week, landed post nine in the second of two Delvin Miller Memorial elims.

Trainer, driver and co-owner Ray Schnittker will once again be in the sulky behind Dewey, who won his 3-year-old debut last Friday night at the Big M in 1:53.1 in the Dickerson Cup. In that race, Dewey held off the Ron Gurfein-trained Kajan Kooker by a half length, and the two will meet again in the Dancer elim—also as entrymates due to common ownership. Mike Lachance will drive Kajan Kooker from post eight.

Also in the field is Clerk Magistrate, who won the $279,786 Goodtimes final June 14 at Mohawk in 1:54 for driver Trevor Ritchie and trainer Per Henriksen. Ritchie will leave from post four with Clerk Magistrate in the Dancer elim.

As for Dewey, his Dickerson win was his 11th in as many career starts, leaving him less than $25,000 from reaching $1 million in career earnings. The son of Muscles Yankee is owned by Schnittker, Ted Gewertz, Charles Iannazzo, Frank Baldassare and the Deweycheatumnhowe Stable.

Celebrity Secret has the fastest mark of 2008 among the 10 sophomore colt trotters lining up behind the gate in the second Dancer elim, that coming in the New Jersey Sire Stakes final June 20 at the Meadowlands. Tim Tetrick will drive the son of Yankee Glide for trainer Staffan Lind.

Also in the field is 1:54.1 winner Fuel My Muscles, who fell short by just a neck of catching Celebrity Secret in the NJSS final, and Ace High Hall, who won his Yonkers Trot elimination and then finished 6pl5 by just a length in the final.

Snow White underwent tie-back throat surgery earlier in the year and her start in last Friday’s Coaching Club Trotting Oaks at the Meadowlands was her first of the year. She had the lead down the backstretch for driver John Campbell when she suddenly went offstride, taking her out of contention. Campbell said later the filly never grabbed full hold of the racetrack, and trainer Kevin Lare said earlier this week that he has made a shoeing change for the Miller elims, which includes adding borium.

Snow White will have to contend with Creamy Mimi, who is coming off an easy victory in the $324,694 Hudson Filly Trot at Yonkers last Saturday night. Trainer Trond Smedshammer has named Brian Sears to drive from post eight.

The second elim will see the return of Lantern Kronos, who won all five of her starts in Canada after capturing her season opener at the Big M in late April. Included among Lantern Kronos’s victories at Mohawk was a career-best 1:54.3 win in the $576,932 Elegantimage final as well as a score in the Casual Breeze.

Jimmy Takter trains the daughter of Viking Kronos and the Swede has named Paul MacDonell to drive. Lantern Kronos is a full sister to the European champion Going Kronos.
