Ray Schnittker brought some high priced trotting fillies to Buffalo Raceway Wednesday night to compete for $25,439 in three legs of New York Sire Stakes for 2-year-old trotting fillies and two of the horses went home winners, Borrow And Spend and Lima Playmate, both daughters of Credit Winner.
Borrow And Spend, who sold for $100,000 as a yearling, shot right to the lead from post six and hit the quarter in :31 and the half in 1:03. Schnittker let the favorite in the race El On Wheels (Jim Devaux) have the lead to the three-quarters in 1:35.1, but a strong stretch drive by Borrow And Spend ($18.40) put her a nose in front of second place finisher Upfront Perry (Jeff Gregory) at the finish line in 2:06.
"This is a full sister to Dejarmbro. It wasn’t my driving; it was my wallet that got her to the winner’s circle," Schnittker quipped.
His second win behind Lima Playmate ($5.20), was a wire-to-wire effort in 2:03, which was the fastest Sire Stakes race of the night. "This could be a really good one", said Schnittker. "She did it real easy, and had plenty left in the tank."
The other Sire Stakes winners were, Miss Fidget (Eddie Lohmeyer), for owner Patricia Hogan of Cream Ridge, NJ, Glee (John Stark, Jr.) a neck winner over Lohmeyer's Slugging It Out in 2:05.2, and Allidoiswin (Marcus Johansson), who scored her first lifetime win in 2:03.2. (Buffalo)
