Dover opens, Morgan wins five

Tony Morgan picked right up where he left off last season notching five wins on the Dover Downs opening day card on Sunday. Jim Morand added a driving triple and Ross Wolfenden a double.

Morgan\'s first win came steering Ol\' Man River to a lifetime record 1:55.1 victory in an $11,300 contest for Ken Dawson and New Amsterdam Farm. Snooker Ball (Jonathan Roberts) chased the winner home to finish second in front of Kaden (Roger Plante).

In the $25,000 claiming allowance, Morgan hustled Herzon to a 1:53 score holding off Full Of Elegance (Corey Callahan) by two lengths. Casimir Bad Boy (Wolfenden) was third.

Fox Valley Sosa, owned by Richard and Pat Arndt, the only 3 year old in the race, collected a 1:54.3 win to win a $20,000 Delaware claiming allowance.

Morand drove Tim Hundertpfund\'s In Hot Pursuit HR to a 1:53 victory to win the $30,000 claiming pace. Jasper Bob (Wolfenden) was runner-up with TSM Scar Face (Ron Pierce) the show horse.

A 31-1 shot, Mark and Brenda Bramble\'s Tunerariffic was the longshot of the night. The Tune Town gelding overtook Hayden Abbe N (Morand) and front-pacing Catch The Wind (Tim Tetrick) in deep stretch for a 1:55.2 triumph.

Smart Nukes gave defending champion trainer Josh Green his second win as Wolfenden also made it two wins in a $12,500 male pace. Tom Kelly, former Minnesota Twins World Series winning manager, and Margaret Mancini own the 1:53.1 winner. Noble Tess (Morgan) was a game second. Nighthawk Hall (Morand) finished third.
