Southwind Allaire moved past stablemate Filly At Bigs in the final strides to win the $607,300 Elegantimage Stakes for 3-year-old filly trotters at Woodbine on Saturday (June 21).

With Chris Christoforou driving, Southwind Allaire caught Filly At Bigs (Mario Baillargeon) in deep stretch after that one had opened up a two-length lead. Nearing the wire Filly At Bigs went offstride, but it did not affect the finish order. Jewels Galore finished third for Charlie Norris.

Southwind Allaire's time of 1:54.2 equaled the stakes mark established last year by Cameron Hall.

Southwind Allaire and Filly At Bigs are trained by Jimmy Takter. Southwind Allaire, a daughter of Valley Victory, is owned by Woodbine Entertainment president David Willmot and Bob Anderson.

"She's not a very big horse but she really has a heart," said Takter of the diminutive Southwind Allaire. "SHe's a horse that doesn't give up."
