Former Horse of the Year Gallo Blue Chip proved he's really back on top of his game by winning a leg of the Presidential Series at the Meadowlands Saturday night (Jan. 10). Despite the cold temperatures, the 7-year-old gelding turned in a 1:50.4 mile, the fastest of the night.

Royal Mattjesty finished second to Gallo Blue Chip while E Dee's Cam, the betting favorite, was sixth.

A second Presidential first leg division was won by Cheyenne Rei, who edged Rair Earth by mere neck in 1:51.3.

The only other speed on the cold night at the Big M came in race eight when Coastocoast Yankee won in 1:51.3. The time is a lifetime best for the 4-year-old Artsplace stallion.
