With all the attention directed at I Am A Fool and Modern Art facing each other in New Jersey Sire Stakes and the Graduate final Saturday night (May 15) at the Meadowlands, it's easy to overlook the opening round of New Jersey Sire Stakes for 3-year-old fillies Friday night.

There will be three divisions of the sire stakes for fillies Friday night, two going for $25,600 and the third for $25,000. The second division will feature the season debut of Glowing Report from post eight. The Artsplace filly finished second to Kikikatie in last year's USHWA balloting for 2-year-old Filly Pacer of the Year.

Owned by Marvin J. Rounick and trained by Jerry Silverman, Glowing Report won the Champlain, Harvest, International Stallion and Three Diamond stakes last year en route to earnings of $551,949 and a record of 1:53.1. In two qualifying miles at the Meadowlands this spring she has won both, the first in 1:54.4 April 30 and the second in 1:54 May 7.

"They were both very good qualifiers," Silverman said Thursday morning. "Geroge Brennan (her regular driver) was very happy with her. As far as I'm concerned Glowing Report is right where I want her to be."

Glowing Report is scheduled to race at the Meadowlands through the end of its meet, racing in sire stakes, Miss New Jersey and her first open stakes will be the Mistletoe Shalee.
