Golden Receiver waited patiently in the pocket Monday, then poured through the Lightning Lane to capture his second straight $22,500 Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows. Mark Harder trains Golden Receiver, who hit the wire in 1:51.1.

Marty’s Charm led the field through a sharp three-quarters in 1:23.3 but could not withstand the late surge of Golden Receiver, who blazed the final panel in :27.2 for Dave Palone. Marty’s Charm was 1-1/4 lengths back in second with Handsome Prince third.

Golden Receiver is a 5-year-old Village Jove-Royal Gold gelding who now boasts $386,725 in career earnings. He is owned by Stable 45, Richard Taylor, Stephen Springer and Nina Simmonds.

Palone, Brett Miller and Mike Wilder each drove three winners on the 15-race card. (The Meadows)
