Power, a colt sired by Googoo Gaagaa, captured the Swedish Kriterium, the top race for 3 year olds, on Sunday at the Solvalla racetrack in Stockholm.

Power, with trainer Robert Bergh in the bike, won easily, trotting to a mile rate victory in 1:57.3 (1 5/8 miles distance). Brother Bill, a son of From Above (by Zoot Suit), finished second with Jorma Kontio driving.

Aetos Kronos, one of the favorites, galloped away before the car left the field. Usain Töll was the early leader but then Bergh and Adrian Kolgjini—driving Upset Face—battled. Bergh took the lead with Power and they continued to control the race.
“It's great fun. When you have such a horse that is a little extra, it is fun to also win with him. He has shown it in many ways at home. It's magical,” said Bergh, who drove Adrian Chip in the Hambletonian.

Googoo Gaagaa had three colts in the Kriterium and besides the winner, Bythebook finished fifth for Erik Adielsson and Usain Töll was unplaced.

Googoo Gaagaa was recently purchased by Swedes and has already settled in at Broline Stud, where his book of mares for 2020 is already full and closed.

The filly companion to the Kriterium, The Oaks, was won by the favorite, Diana Zet, driven by Ôrjan Kihlström. She cut the pace and was timed in a mile rate of 1:58 for trainer Daniel Redén and breeder-owner Stall Zet (Bengt Agerup, who races horses in North America as Brixton Medical).
