« Return to News
Bjorn "Bernie” Noren, a longtime assistant in the Jimmy Takter Stable who opened his own stable in 2009, drove his first career winner Thursday night at Hiawatha Horse Park in Sarnia, Ont. Noren's maiden victory came with the 3-year-old filly trotter Belle Nana, who romped to a 10-length score in 1:59.2 in a $4,900 conditioned event.
A native of Sweden, the 36-year-old Noren is now based in Ontario. Noren drives infrequently; his win Thursday came in his 29th career drive.
After working in the Takter Stable throughout the 2000s, Noren went on his own three years ago. Since that time his stable has included stars such as the 2009 Miss New Jersey winner Showherthemoney and stakes-winners Vertical Horizon, Southwind Samurai and Merger Blue Chip.
