Green Manalishi S, sent off at odds of 9-1, captured the first $70,000 elimination for the 94th edition of the Hambletonian Saturday, August 3 at The Meadowlands. Driven by Tim Tetrick, the Marcus Melander trainee stopped the clock in 1:50.3, leading Osterc, Soul Strong, favored Gimpanzee and Cantab Fashion across the wire. Each of the five advance to the final.

When the gate folded, Tetrick pushed Green Manalishi S out to get a spot near the front, slotting in fourth as 30-1 Osterc made the front with Cantab Fashion and Summit In Sight in tow. Osterc and Yannick Gingras reached the half in :54.4, but Tetrick was first up and advancing. The Muscle Hill colt was in striking distance as the field turned for home, and he reached the wire first for owner Courant Inc. Osterc trotted a close second while Soul Strong came flying late to finish third. Gimpanzee and Brian Sears closed late to finish fourth after racing near the back of the pack early in the mile.

Swandre The Giant, Mr Vicktor and Summit In Sight finished sixth, seventh and eighth and failed to advance to the final.

The winning time established a new lifetime best for Green Manalishi S. The victory was his third in five seasonal starts. He paid $20.60, $10.00 and $5.60.
