Gryffindor proved he is the sharpest 3-year-old pacer in Delaware these days as he paced wire-to-wire in 1:50 in the $394,120 Progress Pace Sunday night at Dover Downs.

Driver David Miller had Gryffindor sprinting away from the gate with plenty of authority and they took command of the race from the rail-leaving Village Jolt. Gryffindor passed the first quarter in :26 and then hit the half in :55.4 before he was challenged by Rocknroll Hanover.

Rocknroll Hanover matched strides with Gryffindor through the 1:21.4 three quarters and into the homestretch, but Rocknroll tired while Gryffindor stayed game. Village Jolt had plenty of room to challenge up the inside but also failed to produce enough closing kick to overtake Gryffindor.

Gryffindor won the Messenger at Harrington Raceway just a few weeks ago. He's now won 12 of 24 starts this year and earned $565,752. Three Point Acres LLC purchased him before the Messenger; since that time the son of Dragon Again has earned $413,709.
