Handsome Prince wins Meadows Preferred

Handsome Prince sat patiently behind the dueling leaders, then blazed through the Lightning Lane to capture Monday’s $22,500 Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows.
 
With Golden Receiver on the point and Marty’s Charm challenging first over, Handsome Prince and Brett Miller waited patiently in third through three-quarters that went in 1:25.2 on a track rated “good.” Ignoring the bone-chilling temperature and wind-whipped snow, Handsome Prince brushed inside to score in 1:53.3.Golden Receiver was second, a neck back, while Marty’s Charm saved show.
 
Ron Burke trains Handsome Prince, a 5-year-old Grinfromeartoear-Nova Princess gelding who now boasts career earnings of $244,044, for Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and M1 Stable. It was one of four wins on the 16-race card for Miller. (The Meadows)
