The Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association (OHHA) will again benefit from the proceeds of the sale of an entry into the Next Generation at Eldorado Scioto Downs, scheduled for July 4. Billy Hartt will place his entry into the 2-year-old filly race up for auction June 28 on Hoofbid.com. Hartt says proceeds from the action with be donated to the OHHA.
Hartt purchased an entry into filly race and was chosen in the random drawing for one of the nine available entries into the race.
“I’m very disappointed we are not going to race in the Next Generation," said Hartt. "I entered to race and had no intentions of selling the spot. It was the chance to race for good money.
“From the beginning I thought the idea of the Next Generation was awesome. It gives us dreamers the shot at a big race.”
The purse for the Next Generation is $150,000.
Hartt says he wants to be supportive of the Ohio racing program.
“I bought more Ohio breds because I like the program," he said. "It has opportunities to race in the Sire Stakes, the Buckeye Stallions Series and at the county fair level."
“We are very grateful for the generosity of owners like Billy Hartt that believe in the Ohio racing program and want to give back,” said OHHA president Steve Bateson. “Ohio is very fortunate to have owners like Mr. Hartt and Chad Foulk who is also donating proceeds from the auction to our charities.”
The entry will go on the auction block Sunday night at HoofBid.com, the on-line Standardbred auction site. Interested bidders can go to HoofBid.com for instructions on how to download the app and create an account. (OHHA)
