Wally Hennessey may have just 48 hours left before he leaves the ranks of harness racing regulars and is formally inducted into the Living Hall of Fame, but his trip to Goshen won’t happen until he completes his seven drives on Friday night at Pompano Park.

“All of my family isn’t coming in (to Goshen) until late Saturday, and I’ve got to pay for all of this!” Hennessey told harnessracing.com with a laugh from his home in southern Florida Friday afternoon.

Hennessey admitted that as the Sunday night induction ceremony on the lawn of the Harness Racing Museum and Hall of Fame nears, he is beginning understand what the phrase “Hall of Famer” means.

“This week it has kind of sunk in pretty good,” said Hennessey, who will be joined by F. Phillip Langley and Jimmy Arthur as this year’s Living Hall of Fame inductees.

Hennessey said the number of family and friends joining him in Goshen total more than 50, and when the groups being brought by his close friends Warren DeSantis and Howard Okusko are added in, that brings the “Hennessey Celebration Tour” to approximately 80.
