Kentucky Filly Futurity winner Her Culese and last year's Merrie Annabelle champion Reinvent were both raced off the pace by driver Ron Pierce, but the stretch drive was all they needed to win their divisions of the Pizza Dolce over a track rated "good." Her Culese is also owned by Pizza Dolce's owner, Dave McDuffee.

The pace in the race was set by Sunday Best, who appeared unrateable as she trotted to the quarter in :27.2 and the half in :56.2 with driver Dick Richardson Jr. in tow.

Pierce and Reinvent were last in their field for the first half while Kentucky Filly Futurity heat winner Nana's Best set the tempo. But with a steady wind blowing in her face up the backstretch, she faded as Reinvent trotted on to a 1:56.1 victory.
