HHI supports the Meadowlands & NJ racing

The Board of Directors of Harness Horsemen International (HHI) is dedicated to supporting the Standardbred Breeders And Owners of New Jersey (SBOA-NJ), and their efforts to save the Meadowlands Racetrack and the agriculturally-based harness racing and breeding industry that is a vital part of the Garden State.
HHI strongly encourages all horsemen to attend the Summit on Gaming second session, hosted by a panel of New Jersey legislators, on Friday, Sept. 10 at 10 a.m., at the Meadowlands Racetrack, in the Pegasus Restaurant.
“The Meadowlands is the flagship racetrack of harness racing in the United States, and as it goes, the rest of the industry will follow," said Gene Oldford, HHI President. "The harness racing industry will not watch the Meadowlands close; it simply is not an option."
HHI feels it is imperative—in this battle to save the Meadowlands—to educate the people of New Jersey and the members of New Jersey’s General Assembly about the economic impact harness racing and breeding has on the Garden State’s agricultural-business economy.
As well, HHI believes that saving the Meadowlands ensures that New Jersey will continue to preserve its green space, will help to provide non-smokestack employment opportunities, and justifiably supports an agrarian way of life that is part of the fabric and culture of New Jersey’s rich history.
