Snazzy Hot Rod and Knight Of Intrigue coasted to victory in the $18,000 opening round of the Hiram Woodruff Series for trotters on Wednesday night at the Meadowlands.
Snazzy Hot Rod ($4.40), driven by Tim Tetrick and trained by Chris Ryder, wired the seventh race field in 1:53.1. It was the 4 year old’s third win in 11 starts this season. Cayenne Turbo was second, 1 1/2 lengths behind in second, while Around And Over finished third after making a bid on the outside.
In the second division, Knight Of Intrigue ($3.60) and Brian Sears easily brushed past the pacesetter Macho Lindy in the stretch for a half-length victory in 1:54.4. The son of Yankee Glide notched his sixth win in 12 starts this season for trainer Bruce Saunders. (Meadowlands)
