George "Buddy” Regan, 78, died Nov. 24. Born in New Castle, New Brunswick, Canada, Mr. Regan established himself as one of the premier New York (Roosevelt and Yonkers Raceway) trainers during the 1970s.
Mr. Regan began his career in harness racing working for Joe O'Brien and Stanley Dancer. From 1971 through 1980 he had a string of 10 consecutive $1 million seasons and during the same time period he won more than 10 Roosevelt and Yonkers Raceway training titles. Among the top horses he trained was the older pacing mare Tarport Hap.
