Last year's Two-Year-Old Colt Pacer of the Year I Am A Fool made his 2004 debut Friday morning (April 30) in a qualifier at the Meadowlands, scoring a come-from-behind 1:53.4 victory. With Ron Pierce driving for trainer Brett Pelling, I Am A Fool got away seventh before working his way up the outside, pacing an unoffical back half in :56.

Last year's Breeders Crown champ earned more than $1.1 million for David and Terry Brooks' Perfect World Enterprises. Pelling indicated earlier I Am A Fool would make his first pari-mutuel start as a 3 year old in a New Jersey Sire Stakes contest at the Meadowlands May 15.

In another qualifier, Woodrow Wilson winner Modern Art, after scoring in his first morning tests of 2004, finished second by three-quarters of a length to Timesareachanging in 1:54. The winner is also owned by Perfect World Enterprises.

Pennsylvania Sire Stakes champion Metropolitan, another top 3-year-old colt pacer, won his qualifier in 1:53.2 for driver John Campbell.

Glowing Report, one of the top sophomore filly contenders this year, won her qualifier with a 1:54.4 effort for driver George Brennan. Trained by Jerry Silverman, Glowing Report won six times last year, including the Three Diamonds and divisions of the International Stallion Stakes, Harvest and Champlain.
