Any chance of slot machines at Illinois racetracks in the near future died Tuesday night when the state legislature adjourned its session without calling for a vote on the expanded gaming package.
The bill passed the state Senate last year and was approved by a House executive committee last week. However, the bill was never put through for a vote before the full House, and now a new Illinois legislature is scheduled to be sworn in on Wednesday. That means that any discussion of expanded gaming at the tracks must now start from scratch.
