Finally, after a two-month delay, the eliminations for the Pepsi North America Cup will be contested at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday night. Although Meadowlands Pace champion Tall Dark Stranger has been shipped north of the border to compete, because of travel restrictions due to the covid-19 pandemic, the fields are mostly comprised of Ontario-based horses. Dr. Ian Moore shared a few insights about Tattoo Artist, one of his two NA Cup contenders, in the new edition of HarnessRacing Weekend Preview.
The latest Preview edition also includes an update about Hambletonian Oaks winner Sorella, who on Friday night will be taking on Hambo champ Ramona Hill in the Zweig Memorial at Vernon Downs in New York, not far from where Ramona Hill was born at Crawford Farms.
There are also a few business updates in Preview. The Lexington Selected Yearling Sale has changed its dates, moving up the first session to Monday, Oct. 5. In addition, the covid-19 protocols at Fasig-Tipton were recently announced.
In other important Kentucky news, changes in medication regulations are expected to take effect next Wednesday. Trainers and veterinarians will find them significantly different than past guidelines so those planning to race at the Red Mile will want to read about the impending changes.
Also, horse owner and attorney Howard Taylor has been issuing press releases regarding a recent settlement between a Standardbred horse owner and trainer and PETA and he has a few more things to say about the case.
