JA's Outlaw steps up to Yonkers Open win

JA's Outlaw (George Brennan) made it five for five since the Lou Pena claim, stepping out of claimers Saturday night and winning Yonkers Raceway's $37,000 winners-over feature.
Assigned post position seven, JA's Outlaw grabbed the lead from 17-10 favorite Wholly Louy (Dan Dube).passing the :27.1 opening quarter-mile. "Louy" though about retaking right at the :55.4, intermission, but stayed put. Meanwhile, Dragon King (Cat Manzi) moved from fifth, steadily advancing toward the 1:24.2 three-quarters.
JA's Outlaw owned a half-length lead into the lane, eventually holding off his stubborn foe by that same margin in 1:52.4. Keystone Rideau (Eric Goodell), Wholly Louy and Eagle Now (Yannick Gingras) grabbed the small change.
For JA's Outlaw, an 8-year-old JK Outlaw gelding owned by Lightning Lane Stable, he returned $7.20 (second choice) for his 10th win in 30 seasonal starts. The exacta paid $35, with the triple returning $419.50. (Yonkers)
