Ribbon cutting ceremonies for the Laverne A. Hill Jugette Barn will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday at the Delaware, Ohio County Fairgrounds.

The new Jugette Barn is located between the log cabin and the Thomas Walsh Jug Barn. The octagonal structure will have 30 stalls and a special area to display Jugette and Delaware historical harness racing memorabilia.

The 35th annual Jugette will be raced Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 21.

"We've had an enjoyable time doing this project," said Phil Terry, director of marketing for the Delaware County Fair. "Laverne is so much fun. She's watched this barn grow from the ground up."

Mrs. Hill is the widow of Charlie Hill, founder of Scioto Downs and Hill Farms.

"I cannot think of a better way or place to help our sport and honor the memory of my beloved husband. We both loved the Jug, Jugette and Grand Circuit racing at Delaware," said Mrs. Hill.
