Kentucky Fair racing will get underway Thursday, June 6, as 2- and 3-year-old pacers and trotters will make their season debut at the Purchase District Fair in Mayfield. With a post time scheduled for 4 pm, the card will feature 14 heats of racing for the Kentucky-bred youngsters with each division going for $5,000. For most of the entries, it will be their first start of 2019.

2018 Kentucky Colt Racing Association High Point winners returning to the track Thursday include 3 year-old pacing filly, Tamylufrmtimbucktom, 3-year-old gelding pacer Caviart Max and 3-year-old gelding trotter, Sleep In. Tamylufrmtimbuckto, a daughter of Hypnotic Blue Chip, is owned and trained by Barkley Counts of Flintville, TN. As a freshman filly, she made 14 starts with 7 wins, taking a mark of 1:55.1 at Lexington and earned $22,050.

Caviart Max, a son of Pet Rock, is trained by Harley Emerson of Golconda, IL, and is co-owned by Emerson and Jonda Smith of Kevil, KY. In 2018, he made 15 starts with 5 wins and 5 seconds, banking $23,580 and took a mark of 1:54.2 at Lexington.

Sleep In, by Explosive Matter, is owned and trained by Rodney DeBeck of Nicholasville, KY. He had 12 starts in 2018 with 3 wins, 2 seconds and a third, earning $13,740 and taking a  record of 2:09h at Paducah.

The fair season will move to LaCenter, Kentucky on Thursday, June 13.

The Kentucky Fair program, administered by the Kentucky Colt Racing Association, is considered a stepping stone to the Kentucky Sire Stakes series that race for a final purse of $250,000 in September at Red Mile. To be eligible for the Kentucky Fair program, a foal must be Kentucky sired or Kentucky bred. (Kentucky Colt Racing Association)
