Ky. S-bred Sale Concludes

The Kentucky Standardbred selected yearling sale concluded in Lexington on Tuesday (Sept. 30). With a sunny fall afternoon as the backdrop, the third and final session rallied with a 27.4 percent gain.



The third session boost brought the average for the entire sale to $29,532, a dip of 3.87 percent from last year's sale. A total of 473 horses were sold this year versus 509 last year, when the sale averaged $30,721. The gross for this year's sale was $13.9 million versus $15.6 million in 2002. A total of 23 yearlings brought prices of $100,000 or more.
