Lather Up, the co-fastest Standardbred of all time, continued his streak of dominating performances in the $230,200 Sam McKee Memorial TVG free-for-all pace, sponsored by Purple Haze Stables. The I’m Gorgeous-Pocket Comb stallion took control early and went on to cut the mile on the way to a world record 1:59.2 for one and one-eighths miles. The victory was the third straight for the four year old Clyde Francis trainee.

Lining up in post nine, Montrell Teague fired from the outside with Lather Up, placing him on the engine and setting the fractions of :25.1, :53 and 1:20.2. McWicked and Brian Sears would take a shot at the leader, but the favorite quickly dispatched the challenge and continued to roll in the stretch, pacing the mile in 1:46.3 before reaching the wire comfortably in front. This Is The Plan sat the pocket and finished second followed by McWicked.

Bred and owned by Gary and Barbara Iles, Lather Up has won seven of 10 seasonal starts and collected his 22nd career win, coming in 35 attempts. Already a winner of $411,405 in 2019 due in part to victories in the Graduate final and William R. Haughton Memorial, the stallion added another $115,100. The pacer has earned shy of $1.5 million in his career. He returned $3.80, $3.20 and $2.60 in his latest victory.
