Lexington Selected finishes with increases in gross, average

With major buyers such as trainer Ron Burke in the house for the last session on Saturday night, the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale completed its 2019 auction with total sales of $46,480,000 generating an average price of $60,997 for 762 horses. The gross was a record, up 16.9 percent, with the average up 7.7 percent.
 
The last session finished in territory comparable to 2018, with an average of $23,016 versus $23,836. There were 13 more horses sold in this year’s final session.
 
Offspring by sires considered more regional were featured in the sale’s final session and sold for solid prices. Swan For All, who stands at stud in Indiana, had five yearlings sell for an average of $53,200; three by Always A Virgin, who also sands in Indiana, generated an average of $48,667, and the first crop of yearlings by Racing Hill, who stands in Ohio, were sold for an average of $39,286.
