Lifetime Pursuit scored a 1:53.4 victory in Wednesday afternoon's $89,475 Buckette for 3-year-old filly trotters at the Delaware, Ohio, fairgrounds, becoming the first Hambletonian Oaks champion to capture the race since Lookout Victory in 1995.
Driven by Yannick Gingras from post 7, the 1-9 favorite Lifetime Pursuit wrested the lead from the Dan Rawlings-driven Broadway Socks just past the opening quarter of :28.2. Lifetime Pursuit then reached the half in :56.4 and three-quarters in 1:25.1, with Broadway Socks trying valiantly to stay close. Lifetime Pursuit scored a 10-1 upset victory in the Hambletonian Oaks at the Meadowlands on Aug. 2, and the daughter of Cantab Hall has been invincible since. The Buckette win was her sixth straight, with the streak also including the Pennsylvania Sires Stakes championship and divisions of the Simcoe and Casual Breeze.
"Since Hambletonian day she has gone from being a very, very good filly to a great filly," Gingras said in the winner's circle.
The Brittany Farms homebred now has eight wins in 13 starts this year and 14 of 24 overall, with career earnings of more than $920,000.
