The Lou Guida-owned trotting mare Lisa America (above, 8) continues to turn in impressive performances as she prepares for a possible appearance in the famed Prix d'Amerique in late January. On Saturday at Hippodrome de Vincennes in Paris, where snow covered the ground, Lisa America finished a fast-closing second behind the veteran French free-for-aller Ready Cash in the 110,000 (euro) Prix Doynel de Saint-Quentin.
With Torbjorn Jansson driving, Lisa America turned in a late rally in the 2,850 meter race to finish second under the wire. Frank Nivard drove Ready Cash for trainer Phillipe Allaire. Both Lisa America and Ready Cash started the race with a 25-meter handicap.
Lisa America is a daughter of Varenne out of a Victory Dream mare. Guida bred her in Italy and she has been trained her entire career by American Jerry Riordan, who is based with Guida Italia in Italy.
Guida has already won one of European trotting's classic, the Elitlopp, with Mack Lobell.
