Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel played host to a new mini-series for Kentucky Sires Stakes or Fair Stake-eligible 3-year-old trotters on Wednesday afternoon.
Eight trotting fillies lined up behind the gate on a warm, sunny fall afternoon in the first of the two $15,000 elimination races. Graceful Winner with driver Elliott Deaton got up in time to beat Delovely Hall and driver Randy Crisler by three-quarters of a length in 1:54.4. The 3-year-old daughter of Manofmanymissions is trained by Anette Lorentzon and is owned by Kentuckiana Racing Stable.
The second class, for 3-year-old colt trotters saw Deaton steer Some Chapter to a wire-to-wire win in 1:55.3. The gelding by Chapter Seven dug in to hold off Golden Genes with driver Kyle Wilfong by three-quarters of a length to earn the victory for trainer Lorenzton and owners Acl Stuteri Ab and Kjell Johansson.
