Loyal Opposition looked to be a solid threat to post her third win of the year and 17th of 18 of her career. But she broke stride in the $50,000 Violet final at Hawthorne Sunday night (June 22).

Early on in the race Loyal Opposition was ranging up to the leaders through an opening quarter in :27.2. Moving to the lead, Loyal Opposition made an unexpected break and dropped to the back of the pack.

She's All Sporty held the lead through a half in :56.1 and three-quarters in 1:25.1. In midstretch longshot Fox Valley Ladydoc and driver Tim Tetrick had taken the lead by almost a length over She's All Sporty and appeared to be headed to an easy victory. But She's All Sporty came on one more time and the two hit the wire together. Fox Valley Ladydoc was the winner by a nose in 1:53.1. The winner is trained and owned by Angie Affrunti.
