Maine horseman killed in accident at Bangor

The Bangor (Maine) Daily News has reported that local police have said Edwin "Ed" Reynolds, 64, was killed Wednesday afternoon at Bangor Raceway after the starting gate vehicle struck him while he was on the track. There was no racing taking place at the track at the time of the accident, not betting races or qualifiers. The track was scheduled to race Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 14 and 15, but racing has been canceled.
Reynolds, 64, of Machias, Maine, was reported to be a longtime employee at the track, where he did groundskeeping and also had a small stable.
The Bangor Daily News story said an internal investigation has been launched by the track's owner, Hollywood Casino Hotel & Raceway.
