Marion Marauder, one of only nine trotters in the history of the sport to win the difficult Triple Crown, has been retired to stallion duties at Tara Hills Stud of Port Perry, Ont.

Trained by Paula Wellwood and Mike Keeling for owners Jean Wellwood and Devin Keeling, Marion Marauder retires with $1.9 million earned from 28 lifetime starts and the title of Triple Crown champion thanks to his victories in the Hambletonian (both heats on the same day), Yonkers Trot (both elimination and final) and single heat of Kentucky Futurity. He became the first trotting Triple Crown winner in a decade.

"We are absolutely delighted to add a horse of Marion Marauder's caliber to our stallion roster," noted Tara Hills' owner David Heffering. "And it's an added bonus that his connections are among the best in the sport on track and off."

In addition to the Triple Crown races this year, Marion Marauder also captured the Stanley Dancer Memorial, the Goodtimes Final and a Canadian Trotting Classic elimination. Sired by the red hot Muscle Hill, who is the leading trotting stallion in all categories across North America, Marion Marauder's dam is the multiple stakes winner Spellbound Hanover,

a winner of more than $960,000 in her career.
