Two eliminations for the Matron for 3-year-old pacing colts had colts owned by Perfect World Enterprises in the winner's circle, but it was not the ones expected to win. Geartogear and Rapid Dialing were the victors, with Rapid Dialing equaling the five-eighths mile track world record of 1:49.1 with his victory.

Both horses are now trained by Deshawn Minor, brother of Dewayne Minor, known for his work with the Hambletonian contender Legendary Lover K. Minor, a Michigan native, put Kevin Wallis in the sulky behind both horses, another change.

Geartogear wired his field after starting from post one and held on for a neck victory over Holborn Hanover in 1:49.4. Western Terror raced off the pace and rallied for third.

Wallis also wanted to control the pace with Rapid Dialing and did so, and that sophomore held on for a neck victory over Quik Pulse Mindale. Timesareachanging finished fourth.
